Magic Creation Rules




Magic is metaphysical energy harnessed and manifested in specific ways. There are many different types of magic that exist in the world of Divinity Quest, some being forbidden or lost magics and some waiting to be discovered. This is where you will come to create and register types of magic that you will later use to devise specific spells from. Types of magic are things like Arcane magic, nature magic or Necromancy. It is generally a broad category in which smaller branches of magic can be harnessed in the form of specific spells. Here at Divinity Quest we encourage you to be creative in making new types of magic that you and other players can use in your rping experience. However there are a few rules we ask that you abide by when registering a type of magic. Any magic that involves resurrecting player characters or allows the use of time travel is not allowed. Magics that involve the use of teleportation, mind control and pure magical energy in the form of things such as 'missiles' are considered 'lost magics' and must be claimed from the limited list in order to use. You are allowed to have up to 3 types of magic. Your first or 'main' magic type will be your strongest. You can use spells of any level pertaining to your main magic type. You are allowed to use spells up to level 30 of your second magic type. Your third magic type is your weakest and as such you can only use spells up to level 10 of this type. You are allowed your first magic type upon character creation. Your second is available to you at level 10 and your third is available when you reach level 20. You are allowed a 4th magic type that is as strong as your main by gaining access to a 'feat' which is a type of unique skill gained through completing certain actions or through events. Gaining a magical feat is the only exception to the 3 magic type rule.


When creating a new type of magic please be sure that it does not exist yet. It is a waste of both our time and yours to create a type of magic and have it reviewed only to find out that it already exists. Below is the template for creating and registering new types of magic.


Type of Magic: The name of the Magic being created goes here.
Unique Traits: Any unique physical traits that go with the magic being created will be listed here. For example Nature magic would have plants or flowers as a trait.
Magic overview: This is where you list a brief description and at least one example of what your magic can do. Please be as descriptive as possible. At least 100 words will be required.
